Would dust build up on the return air flow grates more quickly in winter or summer?

 dust is caused by the carpet and the best on everything that moves around your home if you are sharper in winter so it will move you when you home for? in summer or winter?

Will putting filter material on cold air return reduce the furnaces effectiveness?

 I have a ton of dust in the sporting house and thought that placing cuttable show filter material on the viscera of the cold air return grate would improve. I am wondering if this will do any good (gratis still VERY dusty), or if I am inadvertantely effecting the furnace's presentation.

 My fist job in the HVAC vocation was cleaning ducts and you wouldn't hold the amount of "stuff" I cleaned out of older houses duct travail. Most of the customers did the duct cleaning because of alergy or asthma problems. I would also recomend they set up an electostatic air cleaner after I finished cleaning.
