You're looking north from the south side of the North/South Jefferson Drive-Depot Street intersection, the route of today's 82 Avoid. The photographer was standing next to First Baptist Church. The building at far left is the only one in the photo still usual today. I guess the "door to nowhere" - a door on the second boarding wall - must have back then led to the building with a garage door. Parts of its floor are still well-defined in what is now a parking lot.

The next building covered what is now the soutbound lanes of the bypass. That intersection next to it was the purlieus of a lot of wrecks back then; seeing around those buildings was hard.
