Suspect barricaded in storage facility in Horry County

Horry County - A distrust in a bank robbery last week in Horry County is in custody after a point in the impasse with the police Tuesday.

Police say Kyle William Gunther will hide bank robbery charges in connection with the theft July 28 of the First National Bank on Highway 707 in Murrells Inlet.

Around 10:30 am Tuesday, officers of Myrtle Bank and Horry County Police responded to the Universal Storage and Park Commission on Piedmont Avenue Near Coastal Grand Mall on Highway 17.

They say Gunther was locked in a storage room and said he was armed. The standoff did not last long.

"Just a few minutes," said Horry County police Lance Cpl. Marcus Rhodes. "Once the officers got support at the scene and the point has been established, he went."

A man working in one of the other storage units said he heard the show to watch at gunpoint, Gunther told to leave, but refused to Gunther. The man tells the guard got the key from the owner that they did not have to break down the door. The man said Gunther lived in the unit for the last few months.
