Best way to deter cats from opening sliding screen door without having to actually lock it?

 My cat can detach the screen door if it is not locked. However, if it is locked, it rips to shreds the screen to open it disturbing. The summer and too hot to stop the sliding glass door closed the whole way. A prison guard metal has not helped in the past.

 Is that a cat should be inside? Try double sided tape to the reversal near the door.

What are the steps for replacing the screen on my sliding door?
