Attaching porch support to deck. - Self Help Forums

My interest now is bolting/screwing the join to the decking. I understand the bolt/screws will reach the joists but I'm not unshakable if I like drilling into/through the deck boards. I'm using AZEK decking and although it's it is hoped as heavy-duty as they say I'm not counting on it for brawniness. Since nothing is built yet I over I'd pick to chain everything to wood. I'm not distressed about piercing the decking around posts. This porch will have reclusion panels on the take down part anyway.
